A Better Open Source Web Browser…

And it’s way better than most others!

Most of browsers, which have a niche use case or which are not popular as such, are usually flawed in some way or the other. Maybe they have too many bugs, maybe they don’t have much support or maybe they pretent to be unique but are just another fork of Chromium or Firefox without a noticable difference. This is the reason why I usually do not recommend or even give much attention to these kinds of browsers. The browser we’ll have a look at today is one one of the fastest rising browsers due it’s features and simplicity.

Floorp Browser

This is a Firefox based browser with added features to let it compete with many of it’s competitors from the Chromium world.

Floorp caters to users who like to tinker with their browser. It offers extensive customization options, allowing you to personalize the interface, layout, and behavior to your liking. You can adjust the theme, choose from different tab arrangements (horizontal or vertical), and utilize various extensions to enhance functionality.

Suming up most of the features I like(cus there are many which won’t be able to cover up here), the browser has a sidebar which acts as a seperate browser with a portrait view, which could be used to have spotify, WhatsApp, Telegram, etc. Can’t specify how helpful these are. We do also have these on other browsers like Opera and Vivaldi, although they come with many other features which one might not like (like being closed source, Vivaldi being too confusing, being Chromium based, Opera not giving much personalising options to the sidebar and the web browser itself in general and so on).

Floorp prioritizes user privacy, boasting its “Think about the USER and the WEB” philosophy. Unlike many mainstream browsers, Floorp doesn’t track your browsing activity or share data with third parties. It uses built-in anti-tracking features to block malicious trackers and protects your online footprint. Moreover, Floorp empowers you to choose the level of tracking protection, ranging from standard to strict and even custom configurations.

My Thoughts

Definately not the best browser, although I do feel like it’s out there being one of my favourites. THE feature which made me use Floorp on a longer term is just the options it gives to customize the theme. It allows me to makr it look like Chrome, Firefox, Brave, Opera like, etc. It even allows me to make it look like the old Firefox design, which I think is way better than the newer material Chromium designs out there right now.

Is Floorp Right for You?

If you value privacy, enjoy tinkering with your browser, and appreciate a unique workflow, Floorp is definitely worth exploring. However, it’s important to note that while Floorp is actively developed, it’s a smaller project compared to major browsers. This means you might encounter fewer extensions and a slightly less polished experience.

Ultimately, whether Floorp is the right choice for you depends on your individual priorities and browsing habits. But if you’re looking for a privacy-focused, customizable, and innovative alternative to mainstream browsers, Floorp deserves a closer look.

You’re Awesome :)
